Activity Assistant

Salary Range:

$16.45-$18.12/hour

Position Schedule:

9:30am-6:00pm weekdays and every other weekend Position Summary Under general supervision the Activity Assistant will provide a variety of activity programs to the residents of the McLean County Nursing Home. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead group activities as directed assist in planning Visit with residents providing sensory stimulation and reality orientation Report residents progress to Activity Director Assist in transporting residents to and from activities Maintain departmental records participation charting and MDS/Care Planning as needed Attend in service training and continuing education workshops Drive nursing home bus to transport residents to community programs Additional duties as assigned by Activity Director Knowledge Skills and Abilities Ability to plan activities and be a leader for the residents Ability to communicate well Ability to work well with others Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Valid Driver's License Minimum 1-year experience in a nursing facility a long-term care setting or a recreational/arts/crafts program Preferred Qualifications Some college preferred Physical Attributes/Demands Occasionally squats reaches above shoulder crouches and kneels Frequently bends/stoops balances and pushes/pulls Occasionally lifts and carries up to 24 pounds Walks or stands approximately 3 to 4 hours of workday Work Environment This position will be working in different areas throughout the McLean County Nursing Home including outdoors.
