A DIS is responsible for ensuring proper case management of their clients as well as ensuring that those clients adhere to medication regimens throughout their course of treatment. Minimum Qualifications Five years of experience in disease investigation and prevention activities; OR Three years of experience in investigatory work, social services, nursing, or as a medical laboratory technician or assistant plus two years of experience in disease investigation and prevention activities; OR A bachelor's degree plus two years of experience in disease investigation and prevention activities; OR An advanced degree in epidemiology, public health, in a biological science, or nursing plus one year of experience in disease investigation and prevention activities. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:

Manages assigned tuberculosis (TB) cases and suspects by coordinating patient care, monitoring treatment progress, and ensuring adherence to prescribed medication regimens. Conducts Directly Observed Therapy (DOT), Directly Observed Preventive Therapy (DOPT), and Video Directly Observed Therapy (VDOT) to promote treatment compliance and successful completion of therapy. Performs TB contact investigations by interviewing patients, identifying exposed individuals, conducting screenings, and collecting clinical specimens for laboratory testing. Maintains accurate and timely patient records by entering case information, laboratory results, and billing documentation into the TB Patient Management System (webLATB) and Electronic Health Record (EHR). Coordinates inter-jurisdictional case notifications and collaborates with state TB programs to ensure continuity of care for patients who relocate during treatment. Monitors patient health status, reports critical findings, medication side effects, and noncompliance issues to leadership, and supports appropriate follow-up care. Assists with onboarding and training new Disease Intervention Specialist staff by providing instruction in field investigations, contact tracing techniques, and TB testing procedures.
