Job Description

Job Summary:
The Plant Healthcare Technician administers chemicals to trees to use in fertilizing them as well as providing other benefits to trees.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Loads and unloads 5 gallon pesticide cans, 50 lbs. Fertilizer bags, etc. May have to drag up to 300 ft. of spray hose.
  • Uses spray fun, fertilization equipment, backpack sprayers, hand sprayers and related equipment.
  • Mixes, loads and applies pesticides and fertilizers.
  • Keeps work area neat and orderly.
  • Carries, lays out and stows other materials, tools and equipment at work site.
  • Drives or operates trucks and other equipment as assigned.
  • Services trucks and equipment. Keeps trucks and other assigned equipment in a neat and orderly fashion. Reports the need of repairs to truck and equipment at work site.
  • Drives or operates trucks and other equipment as assigned.

  • Safeguards employees and public from hazards in and around the work area.
  • Help enforce on-the-job safety practices.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must pass company-driving test.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain pesticide applicator certification.
  • Must be able to work outdoors under varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to hear verbal instructions from a distance.
  • Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
Education and Experience:
  • Previous experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Job training for this position is provided.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds at times.
Bending/Squatting/Twisting:
Required constantly when shoveling/raking different material.
    Pushing/pulling:
    Required constantly when raking, shoveling, or removing debris from job site.
      Lifting/carrying:
      Is required constantly when shoveling/raking materials, using a chain saw, picking up debris, and removing limbs or branches from a tree.
      • Overhead activity: Performed constantly when helping to cut down trees.
      Driving:
      Can be performed constantly depending on the job for the day. Includes driving a truck or bobcat.
      • Tools handled: Shovel, rake, stump grinders, chain saw
      • Manual dexterity as needed to operate a variety of machinery and equipment.
      • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the plant.
      Pay:
      From $18.00 per hour
