Job Description
UA Technician (Men's) - Part-Time Emergence Addiction & Behavioral Therapies United States, Oregon, Eugene 1040 Oak Street (Show on map) May 08, 2026 Summary/objective The UA Tech is responsible for collecting and preparing urine samples. Essential functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Perform urine toxicology specimen collection following program procedures including strict adherence to protocols for testing same or differing genders
Provide high level of professional service including demonstration of respect for clients' privacy and creation of an atmosphere of dignity and client safety
Interact with clients and staff in a professional and respectful manner
Organize workflow to ensure efficient and accurate testing
Assure chain of custody compliance prior to submission for testing
Ensure compliance with quality control and quality improvement protocols to affect highest quality client care
Order and maintain stock of UA testing materials following purchase policies
Accurately complete data entry requirements
Schedule clients UAs and disseminate information to appropriate counselor or program director
Assure clients confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
Collaborate with program director and team members to address quality of service issues and to implement internal quality improvement projects or monitoring
Maintain and update technical knowledge skills by actively participating in supervision and attending staff meetings
Achieve outcomes using methods that align with Emergence mission and values
Communicate accurately and positively about recovery and the use of evidence-based treatments Use data and science to identify barriers, overcome obstacles, and inform decisions
Be financially responsible; avoid waste, document accurately, seek new opportunities to serve
Demonstrate compassion and respect for others Competencies Ability to be attentive to and identify high risk situations, communicating with the appropriate team members in a timely manner
Ability to intervene in a way that demonstrates sensitivity and respect while keeping a clear line of communication between supervisor and treatment team

Recognize and respect cultural and personal differences in interactions with clients
Demonstrated verbal and written skills adequate for communicating specimen collection, handling specimens, maintaining patient records, and communicating with team members
Demonstrate knowledge of accepted principles of client record management
Demonstrated understanding of and ability to adhere to established principles of client safety
Ability to maintain professional communications and boundaries while managing complex situations and interacting with individuals diagnosed with substance use disorder or co-occurring conditions
Ability to utilize both oral and written communications skills to effectively communicate with clients, co-workers, community resources, supervisors, and various other individuals encountered while performing work, and maintaining patient confidentiality and establishing professional rapport
Ability to operate a computer, utilize basic MS Office programs, and effectively navigate and maintain patient records in an electronic medical records system Supervisory responsibilities N/A Work environment Work takes place in a professional office setting Physical demands Must be able to apply critical elements of Standard Precautions. This includes personal protective equipment and following safety procedures while interacting directly with clients
Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 lbs., reach, bend, and handle objects with or without reasonable accommodation
Must be able to operate a personal computer, including reading from a computer monitor, keyboarding, and using a mouse. Travel required Occasional travel to other Emergence locations for training or meetings may be required Required education and experience High school diploma or equivalent Preferred education and experience Basic First Aid and CPR
Crisis prevention certification
