Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
A TRT (Therapeutic Recreation Technician) certification, or able to obtain TRT (Therapeutic Recreation Technician) license within 12 months of hire.Preferred Qualifications:
Has professional experience working with mentally ill patients/clients. Has professional work experience in a direct patient care setting for mentally ill patients or clients. Enthusiasm and who understands and is passionate about how recreation benefits people's lives. About the Role An Activities Technician plans, prepares, and implements leisure activities for individuals at the institutions. Works under the direction of a licensed Recreational Therapist. Monitors and observes behavioral patterns and functions of individuals or patients. Prepares and recommends therapeutic recreation and leisure education for individual clients, groups and units, and treatment mall. May train direct care staff on leisure activities. Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc. Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
