PART - TIME Hospital Services Technician (Day Shift)

7:30 AM•4 PM Demonstrate a high level of customer service, team work, professionalism and confidentiality. Conduct shipping container checks at prescribed intervals. Review blood components storage temperature records at hospital transfusion services. Organize and rotate blood component inventory. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Report existing or potential maintenance requirements. Review blood component storage records for completeness and acceptability. Report any problems or potential problems to the Hospital Services and Distribution Manager Label and rotate blood products. Remove from storage blood components to be returned and generate a Transfer Memo. Have Transfusion Services Staff review for accuracy and sign declaration of proper storage. Conduct shipping container check for fresh blood components collected at Mobile sites. Place fresh blood components in proper storage as directed by Hospital Transfusion Services Staff. Report any problems or potential problems to the Hospital Services and Distribution Manager Receive requests from hospital transfusion services for routine and special blood components. Follow established protocol to fulfill these requests, including quality control and visual inspection to determine the suitability of blood component for issue. Operate the computerized invoicing and billing system and pack blood components for shipment. Drive MEDIC vehicle to deliver shipments, pick up returns, and pick up freshly collected blood at mobile collection sites. Perform daily vehicle inspections. Report any problems with MEDIC vehicles. Monitor the temperature of the blood storage units. Respond promptly to any alarm situation. Document response to alarm situation. Compare Guardian System Temperature Monitoring System readings to digital reading. Initial the Blood Storage Unit Daily QC to document this comparison and indicate status. Develop an effective relationship with the Metro area hospitals Transfusion Service personnel. Assist with inventory or temperature problems as requested. Serves as MEDIC liaison with out of area Hospital Transfusion Services Personnel, developing and demonstrating a positive relationship and reporting any problems or potential problems. Answer distribution phone and direct calls. Generate neat and accurate records. Receive incoming supplies by helping unload trucks and moving supplies to designated storage areas.
