Job Overview
RESPONSIBILITIES / MAJOR DUTIES 1.
Personnel Management Assist in recruitment, hiring, training, and disciplinary action of technical personnel under supervision of the Practice Administrator. Supervise technical personnel, including preparation and monitoring of job descriptions and personnel evaluations; assist with salary reviews for technical staff. Develop and maintain a training program for clinical staff, including immediate supervision of untrained assistants. Appropriately schedule technical staff in accordance with clinic needs; approve requests for time off. Organize and conduct regular meetings of technical staff; participate in regular management team meetings. Consult with the Practice Administrator on problems and interpretation of policies to ensure patient needs are met. Develop and implement protocols for continuing education of technical staff. Plan and organize in‑service and quarterly training programs. 2. Clinic Responsibilities Perform patient workups and diagnostic testing as required by senior clinical staff. Answer patient questions and telephone inquiries and assist in resolving patient problems. Ensure all clinical equipment is functioning properly; request repairs and maintenance as needed. 3. Triage Determine which patient should be taken next from the waiting room to initiate testing. Maintain smooth patient flow to the physician, altering test sequence as required. Triage patient phone calls to ensure appointments are scheduled in a timely manner. 4. Administrative Maintain inventory levels and order all clinical supplies. Manage OSHA policies and procedures and maintain an updated OSHA manual. Participate on the Safety Committee. Schedule preventative maintenance on covered instrumentation. Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment; contact repair companies as necessary. Provide back‑up support to other technicians, including returning patient phone calls, prescription refills, and contact lens calls. Assist with patient check‑in and check‑out as needed. Assist with appointment and surgery scheduling as needed. Perform other duties as required.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of medical practice and medical terminology. Skill in operating computers. Ability to read, understand, spell, and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to speak clearly and concisely and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly and handle stressful situations. Consistent attendance. $71,000.00 - $79,000.00 per year
