Minimum Qualifications :
A minimum of two years of experience in the healthcare field is required. Excellent organizational skills and strong customer service orientation are required with a strong background in computers and data entry. Knowledge of scheduling and billing methods and policies regarding productivity/workload analysis and scheduling procedures. Preferred Previous scheduling or referral experience is preferred. Essential Functions The coordinator refers patients to external facilities for various ordered services/tests based on insurance, patient preference, physician preference, and/or location. Updates and confirms patient demographic information and insurance eligibility including coordination of benefits. Successfully processes orders and outside referrals, contacts patients to schedule appointments, and imports documents to the patient's chart. Provides ongoing communication with the patient(s) regarding authorization, financial counseling, and scheduling. Responds to patient questions and complaints as required, resolving problems and maintaining high patient satisfaction levels. Communicates clinical instructions needed for appointments/procedures. Answer and resolve incoming calls and requests in a timely, accurate manner. Triage and relay necessary messages to appropriate staff members. Accurately updates patient information in the practice management system and EMR. Performs all required documentation of work completed. Ensures that canceled appointments and related ancillary appointments are canceled and communicated to all stakeholders. Ensure strict confidentiality of all health records, member information, and meet HIPAA guidelines. Other duties as assigned.
