The Clinical Placement Manager is responsible for the oversight of clinical placement staff and placement of undergraduate and graduate students at multiple campus locations. As a Clinical Placement Team (CPT) manager, the work will involve identifying and negotiating clinical placement settings, appropriate preceptors (post-licensure programs), and other clinical-related learning experiences. The Clinical Placement Manager will oversee all aspects of the clinical experience, including identifying the need for new contracts with potential clinical agencies and/or preceptors and assuring compliance with contractual agreements and clinical facility requirements. The Clinical Placement Manager will work closely with other administrative staff in the School of Nursing to utilize software systems to manage data related to placement availability, site details, accreditation reports, onboarding documentation, and CPT reporting documents. The Clinical Placement Manager collaborates with Department Chairs, Program Directors, and Program Managers to determine placement needs each semester, resolve placement issues and maintain cordial engagement with the clinical facilities. The Manager represents the SON at assigned regional consortium meetings for clinical placements. Clinical Placement Manager reports to the Associate Dean of the Undergraduate and Graduate Division.. This position is completed during regular SON business hours. However, some student/faculty support may be needed after hours. Required Education Master's degree required or equivalent experience. Required Experience Minimum five years of professional experience and prefer two years of directly related experience. Prefer current knowledge of nursing practice and/or health care. Primary Duties/Essential Functions Management Responsibilities Supervise Clinical Placement Coordinators; providing mentoring, coaching and feedback. Hire and train new Clinical Placement staff and department student workers. Oversee contracts process within the Clinical Placement Team and ensure accurate database. Attend clinical consortium meetings and community professional meetings, when they occur as appropriate. Participate in faculty meetings and student orientations as needed. Manage department databases, reporting and audits. Conduct site visits to clinical agencies as needed to assure maintenance of a strong working relationship. Oversee onboarding schedule and manage timeline in order to meet clinical facilitydeadlines. Maintain knowledge of laws/regulations relating to programs including standards of BRN and other accrediting bodies. Clinical Experience Coordination Lead strategic planning for undergraduate nursing placements through close coordination with program Chairs and Directors. Communicate via email, phone and/or in-person with nurse educators and/or placement coordinators in clinical facilities to develop clinical placements for undergraduate and/or graduatestudents. Identify potential student learning experiences in new and existing clinical/practicum sites, and facilitate affiliation agreement, if needed. Maintain positive relationships with clinical facilities and interact with the agencies to plan for and schedule student group clinical or individual preceptor rotations. Verify all required documentation, background checks, and health records for students placed in clinical facilities have been submitted. Provide clinical faculty information regarding the clinical orientations for each student group each semester. In collaboration with the Chairs and Program Directors manage student clinical placement issues as appropriate. Act as liaison between SON and background clearance agency regarding updating clinical requirements and troubleshooting issues. Administrative Duties Utilize various software systems (as applicable) to input requests for undergraduate student clinical groups and precepted placements according to facility deadlines; input requests related to graduate program placements if warranted by the facility. Ensure clinical facility information and onboarding requirements are up-to-date in documents and web platforms used by faculty and students. Oversee and maintain preceptor files to ensure documents and licenses are up to date, as required by accrediting bodies. Collect and analyze data related to clinical placements. Develop and implement policies related to clinical placements. Direct process for submitting required reports to all affiliating clinical agencies and the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN). Prepare and submit annual and periodical reports, surveys, and reports relating to Clinical Placements. Other Duties Responsible for daily electronic timekeeping as it applies to the scope of this position. Regular, punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Skills Excellent computer-based organizational skills including creating and improving organizational systems with multiple variables (e.g., maintaining accurate and detailed reports and records). Excellent public relations skills including the ability to reach out to appropriate sources to get the resources or find information needed to be successful, using proper etiquette both electronic and interpersonally. Strong professional communication skills, calmly working with people expressing frustration, remaining flexible and effective during unexpected situations or changing conditions, Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with multiple coordinators/nurses at many institutions. Keep updated records and attend to details despite much change. Show a high level of dedication by following through with commitment, in a reliable and communicative manner. Take the initiative to solve or improve problems and situations proactively without needing supervision. Manage time to accomplish tasks efficiently and effectively (e.g., multi-task). Must be collaborative and an effective team member and team builder. Physical Demands Requires repetitive motion and sitting at computer keyboard. Hearing and speaking on the telephone. Meetings may require walking and/or driving to various University locations. Technologies Proficient in Google Apps, Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel. Compensation Grade 11: $28.53 to $32.81 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
