We're looking for an experienced Hospital Manager to lead the day-to-day business and operational side of the practice so our doctor and clinical team can focus on delivering outstanding patient care. This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll own scheduling, staffing, client experience, inventory, finances, compliance, and team culture. What you'll do
- Lead and support the non-medical team: hiring, onboarding, scheduling, coaching, performance reviews, and day-to-day supervision of front desk and support staff.
- Own the client experience, resolving escalated concerns and keeping satisfaction, reviews, and retention high.
- Manage hospital finances: budgeting, payroll coordination, accounts payable/receivable, daily reconciliations, and monthly reporting to ownership.
- Oversee inventory and vendor relationships: ordering, stock levels, pricing, and cost control on pharmacy and medical supplies.
- Keep the practice compliant with OSHA, DEA/controlled-substance logs, California Veterinary Medical Board requirements, and workplace-safety standards.
- Maintain and optimize the practice-management software (e.g., AVImark, Cornerstone, ezyVet, or similar), workflows, and reporting.
- Drive operational
KPIs:
production, appointment capacity, average client transaction, and staffing ratios.
- Partner with the doctor and ownership on growth initiatives, marketing, and community outreach. What we're looking for
- 3+ years of management experience in a veterinary or animal hospital setting (required).
- Proven leadership of a multi-person team, including hiring, scheduling, and performance management.
- Strong working knowledge of veterinary practice-management software and general business/financial reporting.
- Familiarity with veterinary compliance: OSHA, controlled-substance handling, and state board requirements.
- Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills, with a calm, service-oriented approach to clients and staff.
- Highly organized and comfortable juggling clinical-day urgency with longer-term business priorities.
Nice to have:
CVPM certification (or working toward it), experience with AAHA standards, and prior P&L ownership.
