A Clinical Coordinator coordinates operations and oversees medical assisting staff in a clinic or medical department. Responsibilities include supervision of day-to-day operations, management of business aspects, HR duties within the team.
The Coordinator-Garden of Health coordinates and oversees the daily operations, educational activities, volunteer engagement, community partnerships, and maintenance of the community garden. This position serves as the primary liaison between garden members, volunteers, community organizations, local agencies, and Loma Linda University while promoting food justice, health education, environmental stewardship, and community engagement. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience:
Minimum two years of experience in community organizing, community outreach, volunteer coordination, gardening, urban agriculture, or related field required. Experience with managing community gardens, educational programming, and supervising volunteers or student workers preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge (e.g laws, regulations, operational procedures, etc): Community engagement and organizing principles, gardening and sustainable agriculture practices, composting methods, food justice concepts, public health principles, volunteer management, event planning, budget tracking, community partnership development. Ability to walk long distances and navigate uneven terrain, ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, ability to perform manual labor ,ability to lift, carry, move, and organize gardening supplies and equipment, ability to use hand tools safely ,basic irrigation maintenance skills, computer proficiency, recordkeeping and data entry skills, ability to stand, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive gardening tasks. Strong relationship-building skills, effective verbal and written communication, community outreach skills, facilitation and presentation skills, volunteer engagement and supervision, conflict resolution, cultural humility and sensitivity, ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Planning and organizing, prioritization and time management, problem solving, adaptability, attention to detail, independent decision making, project coordination. Ability to observe garden conditions and identify maintenance needs, ability to hear and communicate effectively with volunteers and participants, visual acuity sufficient for operating tools, reading documents, and monitoring activities, ability to safely navigate outdoor environments. Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency preferred.
Licensures and Certifications:
None required. Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) from the American Heart Association, Master Gardener certification, Food Handler certification preferred.
