1920-CDM International Student Program Classification Pay Scale In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.
Expected Pay Scale Minimum:
$22.00 Hourly Maximum $22.44 Hourly Job Summary Performs varied administrative and office duties to support the clinical activities for the College of Dental Medicine with a primary role in Community Based Dental education. This position requires extensive knowledge of dental office procedures and protocols.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge:
Experience in the policies and procedures of a multi-provider dental practice, preferably within a dental school environment. Must have working knowledge of the laws governing billing and collections efforts.
Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively interact with health care professionals, students and patients. Experience with computers, printers, calculator, fax machine, copy machine operation, and telephone operation.
Abilities:
Dental services billing experience with knowledge of billing for Denti-Cal & private insurance companies. Experience in working in an electronic health record and electronic billing. Demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism.
Required Qualifications Experience:
Minimum 1 year experience in a dental or medical office. Knowledge of dental terminology. Knowledge of billing
Denti-Cal Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual (Spanish/English), helpful. Experience in a dental school environment helpful. RDA or Dental Assisting experience preferred.

07/16/2027 Essential Job Duties Schedules appointments for patients. Organizes and oversees the completion of patient information forms and enters patient data into the electronic health record. Serves as a resource to students, faculty and staff in the resolution of moderate to complex problems or issues. Receives and screens patient telephone calls. Makes changes in the schedule or provides messages and information to CDM dental students, faculty and staff. Determines appropriate charges based on services provided and collects payments as appropriate; performs billing. Reviews patient accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of claims billing for maximum reimbursement. Provides information to insurance carriers or patients regarding patient accounts. Assists patients with billing problems. Notifies supervisor of ongoing problems. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
