Women's Recovery Services (WRS) is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and collaborative Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to serve as our Clinical Director for our residential substance use disorder treatment program serving women and their children. This position is ideal for a seasoned clinician who enjoys mentoring staff, strengthening clinical practice, and helping ensure high-quality, trauma-informed treatment services. Position Summary The Clinical Director provides clinical leadership and oversight to the counseling team while supporting quality treatment planning, documentation, and professional development. This role combines direct clinical consultation with supervision, program development, and regulatory compliance to ensure excellence in client care. The position generally requires 2-3 on-site days per week , with flexibility based on program needs. Essential Responsibilities Clinical Leadership Provide clinical oversight of residential treatment services. Facilitate weekly clinical team meetings. Lead multidisciplinary case reviews and treatment planning discussions. Consult with counselors regarding complex clinical presentations, co-occurring disorders, trauma, family systems, relapse prevention, and discharge planning. Assist staff in developing individualized, client-centered treatment interventions. Staff Supervision & Professional Development Provide clinical supervision to Associate Marriage and Family Therapists (AMFTs) and MFT Interns, as permitted by California regulations. Mentor registered associates working toward licensure. Provide clinical guidance and consultation to certified and registered substance use disorder counselors. Support staff growth through coaching, education, and evidence-based clinical practices. Foster a collaborative, respectful, and trauma-informed treatment environment. Program Quality & Compliance Review clinical documentation for quality, timeliness, and regulatory compliance. Ensure treatment planning reflects ASAM criteria, medical necessity, and best clinical practices. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and chart reviews. Assist with policy development and implementation of clinical best practices. Support program compliance with state licensing requirements and DMC-ODS documentation standards. Collaboration Work closely with Executive Leadership and program management. Consult on challenging clinical situations and risk management concerns. Participate in treatment staffing, utilization review, and program development. Promote a culture of ethical practice, accountability, and client-centered care. Qualifications Current California LMFT license required. LCSW or LPCC with equivalent experience will also be considered. Qualified clinical supervisor under California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) standards. Experience supervising Associate MFTs and/or clinical interns preferred. Experience in substance use disorder treatment, residential treatment, behavioral health, or co-occurring disorders. Knowledge of trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, ASAM Criteria, and evidence-based treatment practices. Strong leadership, communication, and consultation skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team. Preferred Experience Women's treatment and perinatal behavioral health. Trauma and domestic violence-informed care. Co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. DMC-ODS documentation and quality assurance. Program development and staff training. Schedule Approximately 2-3 days per week on site . Flexible scheduling based upon program needs. Additional consultation is available as mutually agreed.
