Job Description

Patient Care Coordinator - New General Surgery Practice Be Part of Something New We are looking for an experienced Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) to join a brand-new General Surgery practice at St. Anthony North. Two new General Surgery providers will begin seeing patients on October 1, 2026, making this a unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor and help build a new practice from the beginning. Our Patient Care Coordinators are not traditional front-desk staff. This is a hands-on, cross-functional position that combines patient coordination with clinical support. A significant part of the role includes rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs, preparing patients for their visit, and supporting the providers throughout clinic. Previous Medical Assistant experience is required. You'll also help with the administrative and coordination responsibilities that keep a surgical practice running smoothly. We'll Prepare You for Opening Day Training will take place throughout September with our Medical Director and experienced staff at our administrative office and established satellite practices. You'll receive hands-on training in our systems, workflows, scheduling processes, and clinical operations before transitioning to the new St. Anthony North practice for its October 1 opening. Because training will occur at multiple locations during September, reliable transportation and the ability to travel between our administrative and satellite offices is required during the training period. What You'll Do As a Patient Care Coordinator, you'll be involved in the patient experience from check-in through clinical care and follow-up.
Responsibilities include:
Room patients and prepare them for their visit Obtain and document vital signs Review and update medications, allergies, and pertinent patient information Prepare exam rooms and support efficient patient flow Assist providers with clinical tasks within the scope of the position Welcome and check patients in and out Schedule and coordinate patient appointments Manage incoming calls, messages, and patient requests Register patients and maintain accurate demographic and insurance information Verify insurance eligibility and assist with referrals and prior authorizations Coordinate new-patient referrals and obtain necessary medical records Assist with surgical scheduling and coordination as needed Collect applicable patient balances Manage incoming documents, faxes, and correspondence Communicate with referring-provider offices, hospitals, and other members of the patient's care team Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record Help establish and improve workflows as the practice grows Pitch in wherever needed to keep the practice moving and our patients cared for What We're Looking For Previous Medical Assistant experience is required. Candidates must be comfortable rooming patients, taking vital signs, and providing hands-on clinical support in addition to performing administrative and patient-coordination responsibilities. Our ideal candidate Has previous Medical Assistant experience in a physician practice or outpatient clinical setting Is comfortable balancing clinical and administrative responsibilities throughout the day Has experience working with an electronic medical record Is dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Takes initiative and ownership Can manage competing priorities without losing attention to detail Communicates professionally and compassionately with patients Works effectively with physicians, hospitals, referring offices, and other healthcare professionals Is flexible and able to pivot when priorities change Enjoys problem-solving and finding solutions Works well independently while also being a strong team player Is excited about helping build and grow a new practice General Surgery or other surgical specialty experience is a plus, but not required.
