Job Description
The Director of Surgical Services is responsible for Pre-op, Post-op, PACU, and Central Sterilization is a registered nurse who has expertise in all aspects of surgical services and has demonstrated leadership and management skills, including continuous process improvement. The Director, using a high degree of professionalism and critical thinking, directs the planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care programs for the patient population and works with providers, associated services, and clinics as appropriate. The individual in this position has responsibilities that includes assisting in developing operating budget, and direct oversight for the departments staff, including nursing and support staff working within the operating rooms, materials, and reprocessing, and works very closely with other members on the leadership team within Yuma District Hospital. The Director will maintain standards of excellent patient care and a high level of nursing competency. The Director is a "working manager" and will participate in the surgical procedures. There is a reasonable schedule that balances managerial and staffing duties with the OR schedule. We're a small rural hospital, with visiting surgeons coming to our clinic to provide outreach specialty care. Surgery days vary by surgeon availability but usually average three days a week allowing for the director to participate in the OR and not diminish administrative time and participation in other areas of interest within the facility. Surgeries performed include general surgery, orthopedic, podiatry, ENT, plastics, and cataracts. Candidate should consistently model excellence in professionalism and service excellence. Yuma District Hospital is a nonprofit critical access hospital on the northeastern plains of Colorado. Yuma is about 130 miles slightly north and east of Denver metro area. We enjoy quieter rural lifestyle, open roads, distant views, and reasonable commute to urban areas. We generally serve an agricultural community and about a 10,000-population service area. Through our hospital, health services include, inpatient care, emergency care, and outpatient ancillary services, two primary care clinics, a specialty medicine clinic including behavioral health, and home health services. We are a very family-oriented organization in a tight-knit community.'
