Salmon Brook Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Surgical Coordinator to support our busy small animal surgical and dental schedules. This role oversees scheduling, financial discussions with clients, client communication throughout the day, and discharging patients to owners while answering questions the owner may have about the procedure, next steps, and medications to take home. The surgical coordinator works closely with the veterinarians, technician staff, and receptionists to maintain clear communication, set expectations, organize schedules, and provide an exceptional client experience while their pet is with us. The ideal schedule is Monday-Friday, 11 a.m-7 p.m. There are no required weekend hours for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

Surgical and Dental Scheduling:

Manage the schedule for all surgical and dental bookings.

Client Communication:

Serve as primary point of contact for clients while their pets are hospitalized, providing updates and relaying information between doctors and owners.

Hospital Workflow Coordination:

Collaborate with veterinarians and technicians to maintain smooth daily flow and ensure all surgical cases move efficiently through the hospital.

Discharge Scheduling:

Schedule discharge appointments and coordinate timing with technicians as needed.

Medication and Go-Home Preparation:

Confirm all go-home medications are prepared by the pharmacy team and will be ready by the time the patient is discharged. Confirm that the patient is ready to go home.

Post-Operative Instructions:

Review surgical aftercare with clients at discharge, ensuring they understand home care, restrictions, and follow-upneeds.

Quality and Safety Compliance:

Uphold hospital protocols for patient safety and communication throughout the surgical process.

Qualifications:

Experience in the veterinary field required; technician experience strongly preferred. Willing to accept experience as a human surgical coordinator in place of veterinary field experience. Familiarity with medical terminology required. Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced hospital. Comfortable discussing medical and financial information with clients. Basic knowledge of texting, emails and computers.

Pay:

$24.00 - $29.00 per hour Expected hours: 36.0 - 40.0 per week
