Job Summary:
The Surgery Scheduling Manager will be responsible to manage and coordinate all clinical and surgical encounters, including clinic appointments, referrals, authorizations, and pre-surgical requirements. The Surgery Scheduling Manager will help ensure a smooth scheduling and a high level of patient care.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage and coordinate all administrative and clinical support activities for patient eye surgeries (such as cataract, glaucoma, retina, and LASIK). Optimize surgical block time, manage provider schedules, and maintain active waitlists. Coordinate pre-op testing, medical clearances, and necessary equipment like Intraocular Lenses (IOLs). Partner with the billing and revenue cycle teams to verify insurance, secure prior authorizations, and provide financial cost estimates to patients. Serve as the main contact for patients, families, and surgical facilities to ensure clear pre-operative and post-operative instructions.
Requirements:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred for management-level tracks.
Experience:
2+ years of surgical scheduling experience, ideally within an ophthalmology or specialized clinical setting.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR) software, medical terminology, and insurance verification workflows.
Soft Skills:
Excellent interpersonal communication, empathy to reduce patient anxiety, and strong organizational skills. PId8064e22eb60-1033
