Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Dental Insurance Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of dental insurance policies, managed care processes, and medical billing procedures. This role involves managing insurance verification, prior authorizations, and claims processing to ensure seamless patient service and accurate reimbursement. The Dental Insurance Coordinator plays a vital role in maintaining compliance with confidentiality policies while providing exceptional customer service to patients and insurance providers alike. Duties Verify patient dental insurance coverage and benefits using electronic health records (EHR) systems and other tools. Obtain insurance prior authorizations by coordinating with insurance companies and healthcare providers to facilitate treatment approvals. Process dental insurance claims accurately utilizing CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards to ensure proper reimbursement. Review medical records and dental documentation to support claims submission and resolve any discrepancies efficiently. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care protocols, and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure compliance. Communicate effectively with patients regarding their insurance benefits, coverage limitations, and billing inquiries. Utilize Microsoft Office tools for documentation, reporting, and data management related to insurance processing activities. Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure accurate medical terminology usage and proper coding practices for billing purposes. Qualifications Proven experience in medical office administration with a focus on dental or healthcare insurance coordination. Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care procedures, and electronic health record (EHR) management systems. Familiarity with CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding standards, and medical billing processes. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex insurance information clearly and professionally. Understanding of HIPAA regulations and strict adherence to clinical confidentiality policies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook for administrative tasks. Experience in dental office settings or medical office environments is highly desirable. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and electronic health records (EHR) systems is essential.
