Job Description

About the Role At Copper Shaker St. Pete, our front door is the most important part of our business. We aren't looking for a passive door-clicker, and we absolutely do not want an aggressive, old-school "bouncer." We want a professional Door Host / Security Specialist who knows how to balance a welcoming attitude with total control over who enters our building. You are the first and last person our guests see and the person who sets the tone for their entire night. Lots of Hello's and Thank you for coming's. Your job is to welcome our crowd with genuine hospitality, while keeping a sharp, zero-tolerance eye out for fake IDs, over-intoxicated people, and anyone who might ruin the vibe inside. We are looking for a dedicated professional who takes true pride in their appearance, communication style, and day-to-day execution. This is an opportunity to work alongside an organized, respectful team that values high hospitality standards, professional development, and zero-drama operations.
Key Responsibilities Catching Fake IDs:
Thoroughly check IDs for 100% compliance with Florida laws. You must have a sharp eye for altered, fake, or underage IDs to protect our liquor license. Enforcing the
Vibe & Dress Code:
Maintain our standards at the front door. Firmly but politely deny entry to anyone who is already over-intoxicated, aggressive, or dressed inappropriately for our venue. Managing the
Line & VIPs:
Keep the front entrance organized. Greet arriving guests, communicate accurate wait times, keep the lines moving safely, and handle check-ins for VIP tables and reservations smoothly. Verbal Judo (De-escalation): Handle difficult situations with your mouth, not your fists. You must be able to tell someone "no" or ask them to leave in a calm, cool, and professional way that keeps things from escalating.
Perimeter Awareness:
Watch the front sidewalk and entry areas. Make sure our guests and floor staff feel completely safe throughout the night, and keep a simple digital log of any issues or entries turned away.
What We Are Looking For Experience:
Minimum 2-3 years of security or door experience in high-volume nightlife, busy bars, upscale lounges, or high-end hotel hospitality.
The Right Attitude:
You understand that security and customer service go hand-in-hand. You can be firm and immovable while still being polite and professional.
Cool Under Pressure:
You don't get rattled easily. You stay completely calm, clear-headed, and professional when dealing with difficult or drunk patrons.
Credentials:
A State of Florida Class D Security License is a big plus, but a professional attitude and strong communication skills are mandatory.
Logistics:
Must be reliable, punctual, available for late-night weekend shifts, and able to stand for extended periods. Benefits & Perks Competitive, guaranteed hourly wage starting at ($18.00 - $20.00/hr based on experience). A respectful, organized, and professional team environment—no corporate chaos. Great employee discounts on our food and cocktail menus. Real opportunities to move up into lead or management roles as our company expands to new locations.
Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
