The Diabetes Education Coordinator is responsible for overseeing RN and RD educators, providing education to individuals with diabetes, renal disease, and obesity, emphasizing ADA standards for diabetes management and weight loss. This role also participates in community health fairs and collaborates with the Marketing Department to plan and execute the annual diabetes awareness event. The coordinator translates clinical and operational knowledge into practices that drive high-quality, cost-effective patient outcomes. This individual applies program evaluation methods and evidence-based research to achieve clinical program goals, while building strong relationships with patients and providers. The role proactively identifies patient needs, develops innovative solutions, and continuously monitors outcomes to ensure effectiveness and satisfaction.

Education:

Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate of Science in Nursing or Graduate of an approved program in dietetics.

Licensure:

Current RN License in the State of Georgia; Current CPR Certification; CDE certification preferred but not required (CDE exam preferred after minimum number of hours obtained for exam) or Current unrestricted professional registration required. Current Georgia Registered Dietitian license required. Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) preferred but not required

Experience:

Minimum of two years related experience required, experience in diabetes education preferred but not required

Skills:

Nursing skills as defined in the Law Governing the Practice of Nursing in Georgia.
