As a Health Unit Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless patient flow, accurate documentation, and effective communication among care teams—helping deliver timely, high-quality care to our community.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and chart management to support efficient Emergency Department operations Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR), including data entry, documentation, and chart audits Facilitate communication between physicians, nurses, patients, families, and ancillary departments Prepare and manage patient documentation, including forms, medical records, and transfer/discharge paperwork Support staffing coordination, scheduling updates, and timekeeping functions as assigned Provide front-line customer service by assisting patients and visitors, managing calls, and responding to inquiries

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

General:

Two (2) years of clerical or administrative experience involving office procedures, communication, and recordkeeping For the Health Unit Coordinator II, in addition to the above, one (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting working with medical records, physician/nursing orders, and/or EMR systems

Substitution:

An Associates or Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university may be substituted for all of the required General Experience.

Knowledge & Skills:

0 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) positions assigned to 8 hour shifts. Accruals for these benefits are otherwise prorated based on FTE.
