Job Summary The Director, Surgical Services serves as the organizational leader for the Surgical Services Division. These departments include Surgery, Endoscopy, Sterile Processing, Pre-op, Pre Admission Testing, PACU, Laser Eye Center, Infusion and Pain Center. As the leader, the Director shares 24-hour accountability for the departments supervised. The Director of Surgical Services provides leadership and direction to departments in areas of performance related to service delivery and utilization of resources for members across the continuum which comply with local, state, and federal requirements. Implements and maintains clinical and patient care practice standards, budgets, and staff development. Participates as part of management team in formulating, implementing, and evaluating business plans/strategies for ambulatory care services and responsible for achieving both short and long term strategic, business, and financial goals/objectives. Responsibilities Responsible for identifying real/potential problems affecting the service and implements solutions with follow through and communication. Participates in service, departmental and UofL Health committees as assigned, providing ongoing communication to those one represents. Responsible for advancing the customer experience in Surgical Services. Effectively communicate departmental, organization and industry information to staff. Facilitate evidence based employee engagement practices. Build strong relationships and networks to deliver upon organizational and department goals. Develop, implement, and evaluate ongoing surgical services program which assures quality patient care consistent with the UofL Health mission. Monitor compliance with regulatory, accrediting and hospital policy, environmental, patient, and personnel safety. Responsible for the fiscal management of departments; assures proper utilization of organization's financial resources. Develop and build strategic internal and external networks.
