Job Description

Role Summary The PCC is the first point of contact for patients, ensuring smooth scheduling, clear communication, and efficient coordination between providers, MAs, PAs, and the surgery coordinator. This role supports a high-volume orthopedic spine practice with a focus on accuracy, empathy, and timely follow-through.
Key Responsibilities Patient Access & Scheduling:
Schedule new/follow-up visits, imaging, and other testing as needed.
Phone & Message Triage:
Answer and route calls/messages; prioritize urgent issues; document all patient contacts with clear next steps.
Check-In/Check-Out Support:
Verify demographics/insurance, collect copays, issue visit summaries, and schedule further testing/appts.
Coordination & Prep:
Prepare charts, obtain outside records/imaging, and ensure orders/referrals are in place before visits.
Insurance & Referrals:
Verify coverage/benefits, obtain/referral authorizations, and coordinate pre-certs for imaging and procedures.
Care Coordination:
Communicate instructions, education materials, and pre/post-visit requirements; coordinate with MA/PA and surgery scheduler.
Medical Records:
Process requests (HIPAA-compliant), send/receive records, and maintain accurate documentation.
Cross-Coverage:
Provide phone coverage for other locations; support PCC/MA teammates during high volume.
Compliance:
Adhere to HIPAA, practice policies, and safety/quality standards. Qualifications 2+ years in medical office/front desk or care coordination; orthopedics/spine preferred. Proficiency with EHR, Epic preferred (scheduling, referrals, in-basket messaging). Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills. Accuracy with insurance verification/authorizations and multi-line phone systems. Ability to manage high volumes with professionalism and empathy.
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
