JOB SUMMARY
This Registered Nurse acts as the lead for patient flow within the Emergency Department, Grand Central Command, Nursing, and support departments; in partnership with providers to appropriate patient placement for effective patient throughput. This role will work collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team to improve patient throughput and LOS performance of the organization. The Patient Flow Coordinator will exhibit excellence in organizational skills when managing multiple tasks at one time, be successful in crisis management, assimilate information quickly to produce sound decisions and recognizes situations that require immediate intervention. It will be necessary to maintain current knowledge of basic health care economics, trends and reimbursements methodologies and applies knowledge to daily practice and continually develop professionally and apply knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to each patient. Lastly, this role demonstrates technical and clinical competence and serves as a clinical resource for staff This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Missions of Blessing Health Systems. ICARE standards must be demonstrated with every interaction. Adherence to Code of Conduct and other policies is required The patient flow coordinator will demonstrate Effective two-way communication and problem solving at the unit and organizational level This role will use data to continually and effectively drive decisions and essential changes to promote high quality care, workflows, and patient flow. The RN patient flow coordinator must be proficient in serving both the Emergency Department and Grand Central Command in the fullest capacities of each department to promote fluctuations in census/acuity/patient or team needs. This role must have full operational understanding of EMTALA laws and remain compliant with every encounter.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training/Experience:
REQUIRED
Graduate of an RN School of Nursing Excellent written and verbal communication skills Graduate of a Bachelor's degree School of Nursing (BSN) or BSN obtained within two (2) years of hire
PREFERRED
Minimum of one (1) year acute care experience with the respective patient population within the last five (5) years
License/Certifications/Special Requirements:
Possesses current State RN license.
