Surgical Services Manager (Nursing Manager/Director)
Job Summary:
The Surgical Services Manager (Nursing Manager/Director) oversees all operational, clinical, and administrative functions within the surgical services department. This role ensures safe, high-quality patient care, effective use of resources, and continuous improvement of perioperative services. The manager leads and supports nursing teams in the Operating Room (OR), PACU, Sterile Processing, and related units.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction to the surgical nursing team, including OR, PACU, and sterile processing units. Manage staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and performance evaluations. Oversee compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards. Ensure the delivery of quality perioperative nursing care and patient outcomes. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and administrative leaders for efficient workflow. Implement evidence-based practices to improve quality and patient satisfaction. Develop and monitor departmental goals, KPIs, and quality initiatives. Participate in strategic planning and surgical service expansion projects. Provide mentorship, education, and professional development for staff nurses.
Qualifications:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required. BSN required , MSN or MHA preferred . Minimum 5+ years of surgical nursing experience , including 2-3 years in a leadership role . Proven management, communication, and decision-making skills. Strong understanding of perioperative nursing standards and hospital operations.
Work Environment:
Hospital or surgical center setting. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams including surgeons, anesthesia providers, and executive leadership. Involves administrative and clinical oversight responsibilities.
