Job Description

The Patient Care Coordinator - Surgery Center serves as a key point of contact for patients throughout their surgical experience, creating a welcoming, professional, and compassionate environment. This role is responsible for patient check-in and check-out, registration, insurance verification, payment collection, scheduling, and maintaining clear communication between patients, providers, and clinical staff to support smooth surgery center operations. In addition to front desk and patient coordination responsibilities, the PCP-SC may provide clinical support as needed, including assisting with patient flow, preparing patients for procedures, obtaining and documenting basic patient information and vital signs, assisting clinical staff with room preparation and turnover, and supporting the surgical team with other non-invasive clinical tasks within the scope of training and organizational guidelines. The PCP-SC works closely with providers and clinical staff to ensure patients receive a safe, efficient, and positive experience before, during, and after their visit.
Schedule:
Monday through Thursday 6a-430p Key Responsibilities Greet and check in patients in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner; ensure a positive experience throughout the patient's visit. Verify and update patient demographics, insurance information, and identification; accurately enter information into medical and billing systems. Complete patient registration by reviewing accounts and compliance-related documents; obtain and document missing information as required. Prepare and manage paperwork and documentation for patient visits and procedures. Verify insurance benefits and eligibility as needed. Collect co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, past-due balances, and applicable fees; address patient questions regarding account status, payment arrangements, and billing concerns. Resolve billing or charge discrepancies or escalate issues to the appropriate team member. Monitor patient flow and communicate pertinent updates or changes to clinical staff. Assist with patient flow and clinical operations before, during, and after appointments and procedures. Assist clinical staff with preparing patients for procedures, including obtaining and documenting basic patient information and vital signs as trained and within scope. Assist with room preparation, cleaning, stocking, and turnover to support efficient clinical and surgical operations. Support clinical staff with non-invasive patient care tasks and other clinical duties as assigned, based on training and organizational guidelines. Serve as a liaison between patients, guests, providers, and clinical staff to promote clear communication and a smooth patient experience. Schedule, confirm, and update patient appointments and procedures. Properly check out patients, ensuring completion of required forms and accurate updates to medical records. Reconcile cash payments against daily charge and cash reports. Create, distribute, and maintain patient charts and medical records. Perform clerical duties including copying, scanning, sorting, and faxing documents. Maintain a clean, organized front desk, patient care areas, and waiting area; restock supplies as needed. Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies. Comply with all organizational policies and procedures, including standard operating procedures and the employee handbook. Perform additional duties as assigned.
