Job Description

Mercy is seeking an OR Resource Coordinator to support efficient surgical operations within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will coordinate operating room schedules, manage surgical supply inventory, and collaborate with clinical teams to ensure safe, timely procedures. You will track resource utilization, support compliance with quality and safety standards, and assist in process improvements. Responsibilities Coordinate surgical schedules and operating room resources to support timely, efficient patient care. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and support staff to ensure all required equipment, supplies, and documentation are prepared for procedures. Maintain accurate, up-to-date information in electronic health record and scheduling systems, including patient status, case assignments, and changes in schedule. Communicate with patients and families to confirm appointments, provide basic instructions, and respond to non-clinical questions while upholding privacy and confidentiality standards. Monitor daily OR case progress, identify bottlenecks or delays, and escalate concerns to appropriate leaders or team members to support safe and efficient throughput. Support data collection and reporting related to surgical volume, on-time starts, cancellations, and other performance metrics to assist in continuous improvement efforts. Coordinate with other departments (such as pre-admission testing, recovery, and inpatient units) to facilitate smooth transitions of care and resource availability. Follow all Mercy policies, regulatory standards, infection control practices, and safety guidelines within the OR and perioperative areas. Participate in team meetings, process-improvement initiatives, and staff education to enhance workflows and patient experience. Provide courteous, empathetic, and professional service that reflects Mercy's mission, values, and culture of compassion and respect.
