Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate licensed clinician to join the treatment team at our adult dual-diagnosis behavioral health facility, serving individuals with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders in our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). In this role, you will deliver evidence-based individual, group, and family therapy to adults navigating addiction, mental health conditions, trauma, and recovery. You will conduct assessments, develop person-centered treatment plans, and coordinate care within a multidisciplinary team. Credential Requirements Active, unrestricted (or associate-level with an approved supervision contract) North Carolina licensure in one of the following:
Mental Health:
LCMHC / LCMHCA
(NC Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors), LCSW / LCSWA, or LMFT / LMFTA
Substance Use:
LCAS or LCAS-A; CADC under approved supervision (NC Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board) Dual credentialing (e.g., LCMHC + LCAS) is strongly preferred for this co-occurring population Associate-level clinicians must have a board-approved clinical supervisor on file Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial and clinical assessments, applying DSM-5-TR
criteria and ICD-10-CM
coding to accurately diagnose co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. Use the ASAM Criteria (Third Edition) to determine appropriate level of care, document medical necessity, and support admission, continued-stay, transition, and discharge decisions between PHP, IOP, and other levels. Develop and update individualized Person-Centered Plans (PCPs) with measurable goals, in collaboration with the client and treatment team. Provide individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based modalities for this population, including CBT, DBT
skills, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, relapse-prevention planning, and 12-step/recovery facilitation. Implement crisis intervention and safety-planning protocols, including suicide and overdose risk response. Facilitate structured group programming within required staffing ratios Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation compliant with HIPAA and the confidentiality of substance use disorder records under 42 CFR Part 2. Deliver services via approved tele health platforms where clinically appropriate and permitted, to support access and continuity of care. Support case management and discharge/aftercare planning by coordinating with prescribers, peer support specialists, community providers, recovery housing, and family or natural supports. Required Skills & Experience Demonstrated experience treating adults with co-occurring SUD and mental health disorders in an outpatient or day-treatment setting. Proficiency in evidence-based modalities:
CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, trauma-focused approaches, and relapse-prevention/recovery models. Motivational interviewing training is valued. Working knowledge of the ASAM Criteria, DSM-5-TR, ICD-10-CM coding, medical necessity documentation, HIPAA, and 42 CFR Part 2. Familiarity with North Carolina's outpatient SUD service framework. Our facility operates under the NC Division of Health Service Regulation, Mental Health Licensure and Certification Section, 10A NCAC 27G.
Skilled in crisis intervention, risk assessment, and behavior management with an adult population. Culturally responsive, person-centered care that meets clients where they are in their recovery. Strong communication, empathy, and active-listening skills for individual and group facilitation. Familiarity with telehealth technology for remote service delivery.
