What You Will Do The Director Hospice Administration (Hospice Administrator) is accountable for strategic alignment, multi-site operational leadership, regulatory compliance, and growth performance of hospice services across assigned locations. This position leads hospice operations through growth, transformation, or turnaround while ensuring continuous compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation, state regulations, and accrediting body standards. This role translates organizational and service-line strategy into standardized, survey-ready hospice operations that ensure high-quality, patient-centered end-of-life care. Responsible for overseeing clinical operations, quality outcomes, financial performance, and workforce effectiveness while maintaining a state of constant survey readiness across all hospice sites. Required Qualifications 5 Years clinical and/or administrative experience in hospice and/or palliative care. 4 Years management experience. Essential Functions Key Responsibilities Provides leadership for multi-site hospice operations. Leads growth, stabilization, and turnaround initiatives. Oversees IDG processes, care planning, and documentation. Ensures compliance with CMS CoPs, QAPI, and patient rights. Growth and Strategic Planning Develops and implements long term and short term business plans which supports financial objectives. Identifies, evaluates, and recommends new services consistent with the strategic business plans to achieve the growth and objectives of Sharp HealthCare. Aligns operations with organizational strategy. Financial Management Manages multi-site operating budgets. Monitors productivity, census, and financial performance. Responsible for improving operational effectiveness. Develops and recommends department operating budget and ensures that departments operate within allocated funds. Quality, Compliance, and Audits Complies with organizational practices, policies, and procedures. Ensures policies align with CMS hospice Conditions of Participation. Oversees hospice QAPI program. Leads audits, tracers, and survey readiness activities. Maintains licensure, Medicare certification, and accreditation. Leads CMS and state survey readiness and corrective action. Ensures delivery of compassionate, interdisciplinary hospice care. Monitors CAHPS and satisfaction measures. Develops and implements quality initiatives including services and programs that result in continuous quality improvement and are in compliance with standards established regulatory bodies or organizations. Achieves quality objectives established through the strategic plan, organizational, direction, or regulatory mandates/requirements. Develops and recommends overall organizational policies and objectives within functional area and ensures implementation. Physician and Stakeholder Relationships Partners with medical directors and physicians. Develops and maintains effective relationships with hospital and medical group physicians to ensure program quality and outcomes. Develops and sustains successful relationships with hospitalists, medical group leadership and referring physicians to support the strategic plan and business objectives. Leadership Provides visible and accountable leadership. Exemplifies, supports and advocates the principles, standards, goals and strategies of the Sharp Experience. Determines direction, goals, and objectives of assigned areas and ensures implementation of strategic and operating plans. Responsible for department staff; develops standards of performance and resolves staff grievances in partnership with Human Resources. Uses effective communication and in accordance with Sharp standards. Ensures dissemination of information in a timely manner to areas of responsibility. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities This position requires the ability to build and negotiate collaborative relationships. Must have comprehensive understanding of hospice functions, standards, policies, and applicable state, federal, and auditing agency regulations. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing new systems, programs, techniques, and/or procedures. Have a successful track record in achieving financial goals and objectives.
