Serving more than 90,000 Veterans, the health care system includes the W.G. "Bill" Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, along with community-based outpatient clinics in Charlotte and Kernersville. POSITION DETAILS
The Salisbury VA Health Care System , in Salisbury, North Carolina, is seeking a dynamic and experienced physician leader to oversee the Section of Hematology and Oncology across its three main sites of care: Salisbury, Charlotte, and Kernersville . The Salisbury VA Health Care System is a Complexity 1 facility and one of the highest-volume medicine specialty programs nationwide, consistently ranked in the top 10 by volume of encounters within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).As Section Chief, you will provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for all hematology and oncology services, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment supported by experienced clinical and research teams. SVA HCS is affiliated with Wake Forest University School of Medicine, houses the largest VA outpatient chemotherapy/infusion center in the nation, and was the first VA oncology program to achieve
ASCO QOPI
certification. The section is also actively involved in clinical research, including industry-funded and investigator-initiated trials, and serves as a training site for hematology-oncology fellows, residents, and medical students from Wake Forest University. You will report directly to the Chief of Medicine and will be responsible for oversight of clinical activities, supervision of section staff, operational management, and educational and research activities. The selected candidate will receive a full-time faculty appointment at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, at the academic rank commensurate with experience. Faculty are expected to engage in teaching, research, and service.
