Serving more than 90,000 Veterans, the health care system includes the W.G. "Bill" Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, along with community-based outpatient clinics in Charlotte and Kernersville. POSITION DETAILS
The Salisbury VA Health Care System in North Carolina is seeking an outstanding physician to serve as Chief of Rheumatology, providing leadership and oversight for rheumatology services at the Salisbury, Charlotte, and Kernersville VA sites. In this role, you will lead and supervise the Rheumatology team, ensuring high-quality inpatient and outpatient care across all three locations. Responsibilities include overseeing consultative and procedural services-such as diagnostics, infusion therapies, and bedside ultrasonography-while developing, monitoring, and enforcing clinical standards, policies, and quality improvement initiatives. You will manage key administrative functions including staff scheduling, provider privileges, and compliance with billing practices. The Chief of Rheumatology will also mentor and teach residents, fellows, and medical students, foster an academic environment, and contribute to ongoing research. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and clinical outcomes is essential. An academic appointment with Wake Forest University School of Medicine is available, offering further opportunities for teaching and research. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical, leadership, and communication skills, and a passion for serving Veterans.
