Job Description

Under the direction of the Managerial Assistant/Supervisor, efficiently process and transcribe physician/nursing patient care orders and be supportive to the nursing unit and its mission statement. Utilize medical symbols/abbreviations in accordance to hospital approved abbreviations. Implement consultation requests by notifying Medical Doctors according to established processes. Enter diagnostics test and procedures through computer order entry with attention to completion of all data needed for proper completion of study. Answer unit telephone and communicate/coordinate messages to the appropriate person. Triage communications based on needs and urgency of response. Perform a variety of clerical duties. High school diploma or equivalent. Medical terminology, Anatomy and Physiology preferred. Basic computer skills. One year in a clerical/clinical work setting with public contact preferred. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Able to perform as member of a team and independently, handle fluctuating workloads, multitask and set priorities and meet deadlines. Able to handle confidential material with maturity, sensitivity and discretion. •
