A Clinical Director directs and manages a medical practice, clinic, hospital, or other clinical setting. Organizes and manages of staff physicians, policy implementation, and ensures that standards for medical care are communicated and maintained.
The Director of Primary Care provides operational, financial, and strategic leadership for all primary care clinics within the organization. This role ensures consistent workflows, highquality care delivery, strong access performance, and an excellent patient experience across all sites. The Director oversees daily operations, staffing, scheduling, and clinical support processes, and partners closely with nursing and provider leadership to advance population health outcomes. The Director of Primary Care reports directly to the Senior Director of Practice Operations .
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Nursing, or related field preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 - 7 years of progressive leadership experience in ambulatory or clinical operations. Strong financial insight and experience with productivity, budgeting and KPI management. Ability to lead change, improve workflows, and enhance patient experience. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem solving.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The position is located indoors under normal working conditions. Should be able to push/pull 30 lb., lift/move 20 lb. from floor to table, and be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations requiring hand-eye coordination such as patient care and use of computers and complex equipment. Mobility requirements may include the ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time, in addition to being able to walk for a reasonable length of time and distance. Sensory requirements include the ability to articulate and comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to read the English language
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION
Operational Leadership & Standardization Ensure consistent workflows, policies, and patient experience across all primary care sites. Standardize frontdesk, rooming, scheduling, and clinical support processes. Monitor clinic throughput, visit volumes, template optimization, and operational efficiency. Maintain regulatory readiness across all ambulatory primary care locations. Access, Scheduling & Capacity Management Own access metrics including timetonextavailable appointment, new patient availability, and sameday access. Optimize provider templates to balance demand, chronic disease followup, and walkins. Reduce noshow rates through workflow redesign, reminder systems, and patient engagement strategies. Ensure appropriate staffing levels to support access, throughput, and safe care delivery. Quality, Safety & Clinical Performance Oversee clinical workflows that support safe, highquality care (triage, refills, results management). Partner with nursing and providers to improve care gaps and population health outcomes. Support preventive care and chronic disease management initiatives across primary care. Workforce Leadership & Staff Development Lead clinic managers, supervisors, frontdesk teams, and clinical support staff. Oversee recruitment, retention, onboarding, and competency development. Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and patientcentered care. Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective action when needed. Patient Experience Drive patient satisfaction performance across all primary care clinics. Improve phone access, portal messaging workflows, checkin processes, wait times, and care coordination. Resolve escalated patient complaints and lead service recovery efforts. Financial & Business Performance Manage budgets, productivity, staffing models, and financial performance for primary care. Track KPIs such as visit volumes, RVUs, expenses, overtime, and supply utilization. Implement costcontrol strategies and operational efficiencies. Collaboration & Communication Partner with physician leaders, nursing leadership, scheduling/access teams, quality, and population health. Coordinate with inpatient and specialty service lines to ensure smooth transitions of care.

Salary Range:
$ 44.19-$66.28 /hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
