Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse to serve as the Coordinator of Medical Services at an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF). This vital role requires a professional extensive nursing expertise, particularly in managing complex patient care within long-term care settings. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years experience with Developmentally Disabled Individuals and be able to demonstrate exceptional leadership abilities, comprehensive knowledge of medical documentation and coding systems, and a passion for providing compassionate, patient-centered care. As the Coordinator of Medical Services, you will oversee clinical operations, ensure compliance with healthcare standards, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver optimal health outcomes for residents with diverse needs. Duties Lead and supervise nursing staff, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Coordinate comprehensive medical services including assessments, medication administration, IV infusion therapy, and catheter care. Oversee patient evaluations through physical examinations, vital signs monitoring, and diagnostic evaluations utilizing EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems. Manage medical documentation accurately, including medical records, coding (ICD-9, ICD-10), DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and utilization review processes. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized discharge planning, dementia care plans, and behavioral health strategies tailored to residents' needs. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols while maintaining patient confidentiality. Facilitate staff training on sterile processing techniques, aseptic procedures, airway management, and other specialized nursing skills such as phlebotomy, suturing, and gastrostomy tube feeding. Participate in quality assurance activities aligned with NCQA standards to improve resident care quality and operational efficiency. Qualifications Valid registered nurse licensure with current state certification; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Extensive experience in acute care settings such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers; critical care experience highly desirable. Proven leadership skills with supervising experience in long-term care facilities or hospital environments. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth; familiarity with medical imaging and laboratory experience is advantageous. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and utilization management practices. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities; dementia or memory care expertise is a plus. Ability to perform complex patient assessments including vital signs monitoring, tube feeding management, ventilator support, and spinal tap procedures if applicable. Excellent communication skills combined with a compassionate approach to patient care; team management capabilities essential.
