as a team, this is it! Holy Family Senior Living is located in historic Bethlehem, PA and is seeking an experienced Per Diem Health Unit Coordinator (HUC). This position coordinates all administrative duties on the nursing unit/patient or resident care area and aids the Unit Supervisors with the day-to-day clerical tasks, communications, and organization on the nursing unit in accordance with Federal and State regulations and established policies and procedures. HFSL provides sub-acute care, short term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care by an interdisciplinary team of professionals who are arguably the best in the Lehigh Valley! Our HUCs are professional, reliable and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team to provide the highest quality experience for our residents and patients as stated in our mission.
Primary duties and responsibilities include:
Commence medical record for all new admissions and readmissions, completing checklist. Audit and purge in-house records in accordance with the written policies and procedures Maintain the in-house chart. File incoming clinical information on a daily basis. Track and schedule routine laboratory and radiological testing electronically Schedule appointments and arrange transportation. Prepare paperwork for transfers, referrals, and discharge. Assemble and maintain records from the nursing station and the overflow file Answer nursing unit phone in a courteous manner and deliver messages to residents, staff etc. Transcribe orders accurately and timely into electronic health record. Maintain a monitoring system to assure all orders are signed the physician in a timely manner and in accordance with PA state regulations. Document all communications with residents in electronic health record Maintain an organized nursing station. Performing receptionist duties including answering phones, ordering supplies and delivering mail, flowers, newspapers, etc.
Requirements:
1-2 years prior health unit coordinator experience and knowledge of medical terminology required. Computer proficiency required; Point Click Care (PCC) experience a plus! Exceptional customer service and organizational skills Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
