Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Patient Service Coordinator to join our healthcare team! In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a seamless experience from appointment scheduling to medical record management. You will handle patient inquiries, verify insurance coverage, assist with documentation review, and coordinate with clinical staff to deliver exceptional care. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and clear communication. Schedule appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth, ensuring optimal clinic flow. Verify insurance coverage, including Medicare and health insurance policies, performing insurance verification and authorization processes. Collect and process medical collections while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies. Review patient documentation for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to medical coding standards such as CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding. Manage electronic health records (EHR systems) like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix, ensuring proper documentation review and medical records management. Assist with intake procedures, medical billing, appointment reminders, and front desk duties including filing and data entry using Microsoft Office tools. Support clinical staff by coordinating care plans and facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers. Maintain a high level of customer service by addressing patient questions promptly while demonstrating professionalism in all interactions. Requirements Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with strong knowledge of medical terminology and health information management. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or Eaglesoft is highly preferred. Knowledge of health insurance processes including verification, billing, Medicare procedures, and HIPAA compliance. Bilingual skills are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations. Excellent clerical skills including typing (10 key typing), filing, data entry, and managing multi-line phone systems. Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality while adhering to clinical confidentiality policies. Experience with dental terminology or dental office management is advantageous for dental clinics. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel for documentation purposes. Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities.
