In this role, you will be the connective force that facilitates smooth communication between our patients, surgeons, and surgical facilities. Position Summary As our Surgical Coordinator, you will manage the administrative and clinical coordination of surgical procedures. You will guide patients through their pre-operative journey, ensuring they are medically, financially, and administratively prepared for surgery.
Key Responsibilities Surgical Scheduling:
Coordinate and schedule complex inpatient and outpatient surgical cases, matching surgeon availability with facility operating room blocks.
Patient Liaison:
Guide patients through the surgical process, provide pre- and post-operative instructions, and address patient inquiries with empathy and professionalism.
Insurance & Authorization:
Obtain necessary prior authorizations, medical necessity clearances, and insurance referrals from major carriers.
Financial Coordination:
Navigate and coordinate patient financial arrangements, including verifying co-pays and collecting pre-payments prior to the procedure.
Clinical Documentation:
Utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR) systems (e.g., eClinical Works, Epic) to document patient updates and preserve complete data privacy and compliance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Coordinate with hospital staff, primary care physicians, and anesthesia teams to gather required medical clearances.
Associate or Bachelor's degree, or certification as a Medical Assistant, highly preferred. ENT experience is a huge plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of administrative/clerical experience in a medical setting, with a strong understanding of surgical scheduling and medical terminology, specifically ENT.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with EMR/EHR software (Epic, eClinical Works, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Soft Skills:
