Job Description:
We are seeking a detail oriented and professional Assistant to the Director of Clinical Training (DCT) within a doctoral psychology training program. This position involves assisting with the internship application process for doctoral students pursuing APA accredited internships and supporting various administrative and educational initiatives related to clinical training. The position is 20 hours per week, from September 1 to June 1, with flexible hours except during scheduled in person fall workshops.
Responsibilities:
Reviewing and proofreading internship application materials, including CVs, cover letters, essays, and supplemental documents for clarity, formatting, grammar, and professionalism. Assists with organizing and coordinating internship preparation activities, such as interview workshops, mock interviews, informational meetings, and application timelines. Tracking student application progress, maintaining organizational systems and spreadsheets, communicating with students regarding deadlines and materials, and assisting with scheduling related activities and events. The individual in this role will develop familiarity with
APPIC, APA
internship standards, and the doctoral internship application process. Ideal candidates are organized, dependable, proactive, and interested in graduate training, psychology, higher education, or academic administration. Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required; background in psychology, education, counseling, English, communications, or a related field preferred Strong written communication, proofreading, and editing skills Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities Ability to manage multiple deadlines and tasks simultaneously in a fast paced environment Professional interpersonal and communication skills, particularly when working with doctoral level students, faculty, and training sites Ability to provide constructive feedback in a supportive and professional manner Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and general administrative technology platforms Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive student, academic, and training related information Understanding of professional boundaries, discretion, and ethical conduct within an academic and clinical training environment
Preferred Requirements:
Prior administrative or academic support experience Experience reviewing professional or academic writing materials Familiarity with graduate education, psychology training, or internship application processes Experience coordinating workshops, events, or student programming Strong formatting skills for professional documents and application materials Previous experience with editing, administrative support, student support services, or psychology related settings is preferred
