Job Description
Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) AdministratorOverview Join our leadership team as an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Administrator, where you will provide strategic and operational oversight of a high-performing outpatient surgical facility. This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, financial stewardship, physician collaboration, and an exceptional patient experience. The Administrator serves as the leader of the surgery center, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, quality, and continuous improvement while supporting the organization's mission and long-term growth. Responsibilities Direct the day-to-day operations of the Ambulatory Surgery Center to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. Provide leadership and oversight to clinical and non-clinical departments, promoting collaboration, accountability, and professional development. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and accrediting body requirements, including CMS Conditions for Coverage, Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH) regulations, OSHA standards, HIPAA, and AAAHC accreditation standards. Lead accreditation preparation, regulatory inspections, corrective action plans, and ongoing survey readiness initiatives. Develop, implement, and maintain organizational policies, procedures, and quality improvement programs. Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, revenue cycle oversight, expense management, capital planning, and productivity initiatives. Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and department leaders to optimize operating room utilization, scheduling efficiency, and patient flow. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), quality metrics, patient satisfaction scores, and operational benchmarks to identify opportunities for improvement. Lead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI), infection prevention, risk management, and patient safety initiatives. Oversee staffing plans, recruitment, employee engagement, performance management, and workforce development. Manage vendor relationships, purchasing, contracts, equipment maintenance, and facility operations. Ensure accurate documentation, credentialing oversight, medical records compliance, and secure use of electronic health record (EHR) systems. Serve as the primary liaison between physicians, governing board members, regulatory agencies, and external business partners. Promote a patient-centered culture focused on exceptional service, safety, and operational excellence. Experience Previous leadership experience within an Ambulatory Surgery Center, outpatient surgical facility, hospital perioperative services, or healthcare administration strongly preferred. Experience overseeing ASC operations, regulatory compliance, budgeting, physician relations, quality improvement, and accreditation activities preferred. Ophthalmology, cataract, retina, or multispecialty surgery center experience is highly desirable. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, Health Sciences, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of three to five years of progressive leadership or administrative experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center or comparable healthcare environment preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of CMS Conditions for Coverage, Pennsylvania Department of Health regulations, AAAHC accreditation standards, OSHA requirements, HIPAA, infection prevention principles, and healthcare compliance. Experience leading accreditation surveys, regulatory inspections, quality improvement initiatives, and performance improvement programs. Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, operational planning, productivity management, and resource allocation. Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, staff, vendors, and governing boards. Proficiency with electronic health records (EHRs), Microsoft Office Suite, and healthcare management software. Certified Administrator Surgery Center (CASC) credential preferred but not required.
