Pay Rate - $57.50/hr Day shift: Monday-Friday Job Description We are seeking an experienced Inpatient Coding Manager to provide leadership and oversight for acute inpatient coding operations in a fully remote environment. The Inpatient Coding Manager will oversee Coding Supervisors and coding staff, ensure coding accuracy and regulatory compliance, manage quality and productivity standards, and support continuous improvement across coding operations. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of coding management experience, including 3+ years of acute inpatient coding experience, with demonstrated coding leadership and expertise in diagnosis and procedure coding, coding guidelines, reimbursement, compliance, and revenue cycle operations. Key Responsibilities Leadership Team Management Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to Coding Supervisors and coding teams. Coach, mentor, and develop staff to promote engagement, productivity, quality, and professional growth. Conduct performance evaluations, participate in disciplinary actions, staff planning, interviewing, and other employee-management activities. Establish and maintain a high-performing, collaborative team environment. Manage day-to-day coding operations and make staffing and workflow decisions as needed. Quality Coding Compliance Oversee coding audits, quality assurance, and education programs to ensure accurate and compliant coding and billing practices. Monitor coding quality and productivity standards and hold staff accountable for established performance expectations. Ensure coding practices comply with organizational policies, official coding guidelines, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards. Investigate and respond to coding compliance issues involving coded data. Support the development and implementation of organization-wide coding compliance initiatives. Coding Expertise Serve as a subject matter expert regarding diagnosis and procedure codes, coding guidelines, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, reimbursement methodologies, and payer-specific requirements. Analyze and interpret disease and procedure classifications and healthcare terminology. Apply coding guidelines to complex situations using sound judgment and analytical skills. Maintain current knowledge of coding regulations, industry standards, and changes affecting acute inpatient coding. Support the accurate interpretation and use of coded data as it relates to revenue cycle, quality measures, reimbursement, and patient outcomes. Issue Resolution Process Improvement Identify operational and coding issues and perform root-cause analysis. Develop and implement solutions to improve coding accuracy, efficiency, and outcomes. Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and optimize available resources. Support standardization of coding policies, procedures, and workflows across corporate operations. Technology Systems Maintain expert knowledge of coding technology and software applications. Support development and maintenance of coding system workflows to promote standardization and efficiency. Work with Epic and other coding technologies as applicable. Collaboration Liaison Responsibilities Serve as a regional coding liaison for meetings, projects, and cross-functional initiatives. Collaborate with clinical operations, revenue cycle, physician, and other organizational teams. Support coding requirements for new department builds and operational revisions. Assist with coding inquiries, audits, denials, and requests from third-party agencies. Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and provide guidance on coding-related issues. Budget Policy Support Assist leadership with departmental budget development and management. Support budget allocations, expenditure approvals, and expense monitoring. Assist with development, implementation, and enforcement of standardized coding policies and procedures. Adhere to professional standards of ethical coding established by AHIMA/AAPC and official coding guidelines. Required Qualifications RHIA or RHIT certification required. 4+ years of coding management experience. 3+ years of acute inpatient coding experience. Demonstrated experience in coding leadership and team management.
