Summary:
Administers prescribed therapy programs to restore function, prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of body part: helps patients reach maximum performance while learning to live within their limits of his/her capabilities. Assists in training therapists, leads therapist assistants, supportive personnel and students in their performance of patient/resident care services and treatments. Manages Therapy Student Program.
Education:
In addition to the skills normally obtained through completion of high School education, a Bachelor of Science degree or Master's degree in rehab therapy from an accredited institution is required.
Licensure:
Current Rhode Island Physical Therapist , or Occupational Therapist or SLP Licensure.
Experience:
3 or more years of experience preferred with supervisory skills recommended.
Skills and Abilities:
Leadership ability. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to provide direction to others that is clear, concise and promotes efficiency within the department. Ability to communicate well with patient, families, co-workers, physicians, vendors, etc. Ability to work within a management team. Ability to function efficiently and responsibly in emergency situations. Ability to set daily, weekly, monthly and yearly priorities, and change them as necessary. Safety Requirements :
Clean, well vented working area. Exposed daily to disagreeable odors, sights of bodily wastes and contaminated equipment, May be exposed to infectious disease and or bodily harm from combative patients. Required to carry, push; pull equipment, as well as turn, transfer, and assist patients with ambulating and/or therapeutic exercise. Must meet annual safety training require per hospital policy.
