Position Medical Staff Coordinator Location Beaufort Memorial Hospital Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time Shift -not applicable- Exempt/Non-Exempt Non-Exempt Description The Medical Staff Coordinator is a direct report to the Medical Staff Services Manager and is responsible for executing all activities of the Medical Staff Services Office with particular focus on provider credentialing, provider reappointment and bylaws maintenance. Acts as a communication liaison and information resource relating to these functions. Assists in planning medical staff activities with the Chief of Staff/Chair of Departments, Medical Staff Committees and the General Medical Staff. Develop and maintain call coverage calendar for all departments. Coordinates calendar of medical staff departments and committee meetings with released notices, telephone calls, dietary requests and audiovisual needs. Prepares agendas in cooperation with the Chair of Departments and Medical Staff Committees. Prepares and circulates minutes. Responsible for maintenance and updating computer program for credentialing. Maintains all credentials files. Process applications for appointments to the Medical Staff including Physicians, NPs and PAs. Coordinates reappointment process for Medical Staff including Physicians, NPs and PAs. Responsible for all verification of employment past and present. Maintain pay for call spreadsheet for CFO monthly. Maintains listings of medical members, committees and officers. Responsible for daily on-call schedule. Maintains medical staff mail, bulletin boards, telephone and email listings and meeting calendar. Assist with Joint Commission survey preparation.
Position Requirements Education:
High school Diploma or GED required. Bachelors' Degree from an accredited school with major in healthcare-related, legal, or business-related field is preferred
Experience:
Minimum three years of experience in a medical administrative support related role. Any combination of education and experience that equates to Bachelors' Degree and one year of experience in medical staff office, medical office, administrative support, or law office Experience with credentialing accreditation by joint commission or national committee for quality assurance preferred. Demonstrated working knowledge of the healthcare and credentialing industry, including medical-legal issues and laws, regulatory agencies and other national standards preferred. Efficient Multitasker Effective Communicator Familiarity with medical records navigation (Meditech, Athena preferred) Familiarity with Medical Staff Credentialing and Privileging Software Systems (preferred)
Data Abstraction and Report Generation Certifications/Licenses:
