FPC Yankton, SD Duties Help Serves as a Clinical Director a Bureau of Prisons' (BOP) federal correctional facility. The Clinical Director functions as the primary physician for a full scope and range of medical services to the inmes confined this facility. Responsible for clinical care provided the institution, including reviewing applicions and credentials for membership to the medical staff; interviewing prospective physicians and mid-level providers; implementing and monitoring in-house Continuing Professional Educion (CPE) training; maintaining the quality of health records; supervising Physicians (if applicable), and evaluing pient care through an ongoing quality assurance program th identifies problems and their resolution. Responsible for all health care delivered. Responsibility to consult with other health care providers to provide training and mentoring and to be directly involved with the evaluion and trement of severely ill and medically complex pient care problems. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. Degree:
Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteophic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United Stes or Canada. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide educion and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United Stes. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United Stes is demonstred by permanent certificion by the Educional Commission for Foreign Medical Gradues , a fifth phway certifice for Americans who completed pre-medical educion in the United Stes and gradue educion in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examinion.

Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteophic Medicine degree, a candide must have had least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. For purposes of this standard, gradue training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs th are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United Stes or Canada. Descriptions of such programs are described below. An internship program involves broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treing a variety of medical problems under supervision (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and pedirics). Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training by a recognized body of the Accredition Council for Gradue Medical Educion (ACGME) or American Osteophic Associion (AOA). A residency program involves training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by a recognized body of the American Medical Associion (AMA) , American Osteophic Associion (AOA) or Accredition Council for Gradue Medical Educion (ACGME). A fellowship program involves advanced training (beyond residency training) in a given medical specialty in either a clinical or research setting in a hospital or an institution accredited in the United Stes for such training. All qualified referred candides will undergo a credentialing process. This process includes validion of examinions, licensure, educion, internship and residency.
