Summary:
We are currently hiring for the position of Intake Coordinator. This position is responsible for providing guidance and training to the Intake staff and support team members within HIT/IS/Specialty areas, updating staff on changes in policies and procedures, following up on work activities and performing all the tasks of a patient care specialist.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage email, fax and web portals for new referrals, answer incoming calls regarding new referrals and work closely with other departments to complete referrals. Verify insurance coverage online or via phone to determine patient OOP, obtain documentation to ensure the product(s) that are being ordered meet(s) insurance requirements, coordinates with authorization counterparts to ensure all information required by insurance is successfully authorized, dispense and bill medications. Capture all relevant information in internal systems. Arrange Infusion Support nursing team to schedule patient for medication administration and nursing visit. Ensure Retail Specialty referral has been moved to patient care team appropriately. Evaluate issues within HIT/IS/Specialty workflow that may arise on the team and conduct troubleshooting and problem solving to assist intake team members find resolutions. Training new Intake staff and cross training of current staff. Assist with PTO schedules and approvals, provide input for performance reviews and help set expectations and provide guidance for higher performance and improvement. Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required. Current, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician license in the state of practice and Pharmacy Technician certification or another professional license (LPN, Medical Assistant, etc.) preferred.
Experience:
Three to five years of related intake or medical office experience required. IV/Specialty Pharmacy Experience required. Knowledge of HCPC coding, medical/pharmacy terminology and ICD-10 codes preferred. Medical ERM and/or other medical software knowledge required.
