This position provides the technical expertise necessary to protect the health, appearance, and long-term value of ornamental plants, trees, shrubs, perennials, groundcovers, and turf across approximately 110 residential and commercial properties. The PHC Manager will establish a proactive plant-health program that goes beyond traditional landscape maintenance. The position will diagnose plant health problems, develop corrective-action plans, coordinate licensed chemical applicators and irrigation personnel, monitor results, and develop recurring PHC services for existing maintenance customers and newly installed landscapes. Custom Gardens installs approximately $3 million of new landscaping annually. A primary objective of this position is to use that installation base, along with the company's existing maintenance portfolio, to build a significant and profitable Plant Health Care division. Primary Responsibilities 1. Plant Health Inspections Conduct scheduled site inspections of residential and commercial properties. Inspect trees, shrubs, perennials, turf, groundcovers, annuals and newly installed landscapes. Identify insect, disease, nutritional, irrigation, soil, environmental and cultural problems. Identify early signs of plant stress before they become significant customer or warranty issues. Document findings with photographs, diagnosis, recommendations and priority level. Establish inspection frequencies based on property size, plant material, risk and customer requirements. 2. Diagnosis & Treatment Planning Develop written recommendations for correcting plant health problems. Determine whether problems require chemical treatment, irrigation correction, cultural practices, pruning, fertilization, soil improvement or other corrective measures. Develop seasonal PHC programs for trees, shrubs and turf. Establish treatment timing and follow-up requirements. Monitor treatment results and modify recommendations when necessary. Escalate problems requiring specialized arboricultural, irrigation or diagnostic expertise. 3. Coordinate Licensed Applicators & Irrigation Personnel Schedule licensed chemical applicators for treatments prescribed through the PHC program. Coordinate irrigation technicians when irrigation deficiencies contribute to plant health problems. Verify that treatments and corrective work are completed properly. Maintain appropriate documentation of treatments and follow-up inspections. Ensure chemical applications are performed by personnel with the required licenses and certifications. 4. New Landscape Plant Health Program Develop a formal PHC process for newly installed landscapes.

Post-installation inspections Establishment monitoring Irrigation evaluation Plant stress monitoring Pest and disease monitoring Seasonal treatment recommendations Warranty-risk identification Follow-up inspections Transition from installation warranty to long-term maintenance/PHC The goal is to protect Custom Gardens' investment and reputation while creating an opportunity to convert new installation customers into long-term PHC and maintenance customers. 5. Build the PHC Division The PHC Manager will be responsible for helping develop Plant Health Care into a significant revenue-producing division.

Training & Quality Control Train maintenance personnel to recognize common plant health problems. Develop field identification guides and inspection standards. Train employees to recognize conditions requiring escalation to the PHC department. Establish quality standards for PHC work. Conduct follow-up inspections to verify that corrective actions were effective. Help develop standard operating procedures for PHC activities. 7. Customer Communication Communicate plant health findings to account managers and customers when appropriate. Explain diagnoses and recommended corrective actions in understandable terms. Provide professional recommendations that reinforce Custom Gardens' reputation as a landscape professional rather than simply a maintenance contractor. Participate in customer meetings when significant plant health issues or treatment programs are involved. Authority & Accountability The Plant Health Care Manager has authority to: Schedule PHC inspections. Recommend chemical, irrigation and cultural treatments. Schedule licensed applicators for approved treatments. Request irrigation inspections or repairs. Require follow-up inspections. Recommend removal and replacement of declining plant material. Identify maintenance practices that may be damaging plant health. Recommend changes to landscape maintenance practices. Escalate recurring quality problems to the appropriate division manager. The PHC Manager is accountable for the health and appearance of the plant material under Custom Gardens' care and for the development and profitability of the PHC program.

$65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
