Deputy Director of Public Health City of Corpus Christi - 3.5 Corpus Christi, TX Job Details Full-time $134,889 - $177,961 a year 1 day ago Benefits Relocation assistance Qualifications Driver's License Full Job Description Overview The Deputy Director will assist the Health Director in planning, organizing, and managing the operations of the Public health department. This position will provide strategic leadership, oversees public health programs, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports the implementation of community health initiatives. The Deputy Director also acts on behalf of the Director when necessary. Responsibilities Assist the Health Director in the overall management and administration of the health department Help develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and operational procedures Assist providing leadership and supervision to program managers and administrative staff Serve as Acting Director in the absence of the Health Director Direct and coordinate priority public health programs, including STI prevention and treatment services, vector control operations and Health Promotion and Education Provide executive oversight for contracts, grants management, and external funding partnerships Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local public health laws and regulations Assist with policy development and regulatory enforcement activities Coordinate quality improvement initiatives Assist in developing and managing the department's budget Assist in overseeing grant management and funding compliance Ensure efficient allocation of staff and program resources Collaborate with hospitals, clinics, schools, nonprofits, and community organizations Represent the health department at community meetings and public events. Support partnerships that improve community health outcomes Assist in acting as official departmental representative to other city departments, City Manager's office, elected officials and outside agencies, justifies, & defends department programs & activities Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting related to public health programs Prepare reports for governing boards, state agencies, and stakeholders Assist in responding to and resolving sensitive inquiries & complaints from both internal & external sources Other related duties as assigned.   • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS)
  • Eight (8) years' experience Preferred
  • Master's in Public Health (MPH) Licenses and Certifications Required
  • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire Employment Testing Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below:

        Relocation Package The City offers an excellent relocation assistance package that includes up to $10,000 for the following housing and moving expenses: Temporary housing assistance Two (2) visits to the City which may include two (2) round trip flights or mileage (including hotel, car rental, etc) for the purpose of obtaining temporary or permanent living arrangements. Reimbursement for moving company expenses Additional Incentive Accrued Vacation Additional accrued annual vacation hours based on years of experience Basis of Rating Applications will be reviewed as they are received.
