Full Job Description Job Purpose:

Serves patients by greeting and helping them; scheduling appointments; maintaining records and accounts.

Job Duties:

Shown are expectations intended to provide quality and caring customer service as a summary of the major duties and responsibilities.

Communicate with patients to accommodate their schedule as well as the physicians.
Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries in a pleasant and cordial demeanor promoting excellent customer service.
Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone including taking messages and reschedules.
Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area.
Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information; recording and collecting patient charges; responsible for daily cash drawer.
Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying nurses of patient's arrival; reviewing patient arrival compared to schedule; reminding nurses of delays, etc.
Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and maintaining patient records.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related task as needed promoting teamwork and patient care.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of clinical procedures usually obtained from a certificate or Associates degree in a clinical program or prior medical office experience is helpful, but not necessary.
