We are developing substance use disorder programming that will serve clients through commercial insurance, Medicaid/Apple Health, intensive outpatient programming, and community-based treatment partnerships. We are seeking a strong, dependable, clinically grounded SUD Clinical Supervisor who can provide clinical supervision, support SUDPT development, oversee IOP clinical coverage, and help ensure consistent clinical quality across multiple program settings. Position Summary Thrive Behavioral Health is seeking a SUD Clinical Supervisor to provide clinical supervision, SUDPT training, documentation oversight, IOP coverage coordination, and clinical quality support across multiple substance use disorder treatment settings. This position will support clinical operations for three developing service areas: A commercial insurance IOP program in the current Thrive Behavioral Health building An IOP group located at a shelter-based clinic partnership A future Covington clinic IOP program with Medicaid/Apple Health service development This role is responsible for helping ensure that IOP groups and daily clinical sessions have appropriate coverage, that SUDPTs and assigned clinical staff receive proper supervision and training, and that clinical documentation meets agency, payer, and regulatory expectations. The owner/administrator will retain responsibility for overall business development, administrative operations, payer strategy, staffing structure, and organizational leadership. This position will carry responsibility for the clinical supervision lane, including SUDPT training, documentation review, IOP clinical oversight, and clinical quality support. Essential Responsibilities Clinical Supervision The SUD Clinical Supervisor will: Provide approved clinical supervision to SUDPTs, SUDPs, and assigned clinical staff. Ensure SUDPTs are practicing within their scope, training, and credentialing requirements. Review and sign clinical documentation as required. Provide supervision related to ASAM placement, assessments, treatment planning, clinical interventions, relapse prevention, discharge planning, and continuing care. Maintain supervision records and support supervisees in meeting credentialing and competency expectations. Provide clinical coaching, corrective feedback, training, and accountability. Support staff in developing clinical judgment, ethical decision-making, documentation skill, and professional confidence. IOP Oversight and Clinical Coverage Coordination The SUD Clinical Supervisor will: Support clinical oversight of IOP programming across assigned sites. Help ensure appropriate clinical coverage for every IOP group and daily clinical session. Coordinate backup coverage when clinicians are unavailable. Monitor group schedules, clinical assignments, client needs, and program flow. Help maintain consistency in clinical service delivery across commercial insurance, Medicaid, and community-based programming. Communicate clinical coverage concerns to leadership in a timely manner. Work collaboratively with administration, billing, and leadership to support smooth program operations. Multi-Site Clinical Support This position will support clinical consistency across: Thrive Behavioral Health's current commercial insurance IOP program Shelter-based IOP services Future Covington clinic Medicaid/Apple Health IOP services Responsibilities include: Supporting staff assigned to each location Helping maintain clinical quality across all program settings Ensuring proper level-of-care documentation Supporting ASAM-aligned treatment recommendations Monitoring documentation expectations across sites Helping leadership identify clinical staffing needs as census grows Supporting communication between clinical team members and administration Documentation, Compliance, and Quality Assurance The SUD Clinical Supervisor will: Review SUD assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, ASAM documentation, discharge summaries, and continuing care plans. Ensure documentation supports medical necessity and appropriate level of care. Monitor documentation quality for commercial insurance and Medicaid/Apple Health services. Support chart audits and corrective action when documentation does not meet agency standards. Train staff on documentation expectations. Help ensure clinical records reflect ethical, clinically sound, payer-ready care. Support confidentiality, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, mandated reporting, and professional standards. Communicate documentation concerns clearly and professionally to staff and leadership. SUDPT Training and Development The SUD Clinical Supervisor will: Train SUDPTs in clinical documentation, assessment, treatment planning, group facilitation, ethical practice, and ASAM criteria. Provide structured feedback and competency development. Support onboarding of new SUDPTs and SUDP staff. Help developing clinicians build confidence, clinical judgment, and professionalism. Ensure SUDPTs receive supervision consistent with Washington State requirements and agency standards. Model professionalism, accountability, ethical practice, and strong clinical boundaries. Medicaid and Commercial Insurance Support The SUD Clinical Supervisor will: Support documentation standards for both commercial insurance and Medicaid/Apple Health services. Help ensure clinical services are medically necessary, properly documented, and aligned with payer expectations. Support continued-stay documentation, authorization support, discharge planning, and level-of-care justification. Help train staff on the differences between commercial insurance and Medicaid documentation needs. Collaborate with billing and administrative leadership to ensure services are clinically and financially aligned. Help identify documentation or clinical workflow gaps that may impact payer approval or compliance. Required Qualifications Qualified candidates must have: Active Washington State Substance Use Disorder Professional — SUDP credential in good standing. Ability to provide approved supervision to SUDPTs and/or SUD staff under Washington State requirements. Experience providing substance use disorder treatment. Strong knowledge of ASAM criteria. Experience with SUD assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, progress notes, discharge planning, and continuing care. Knowledge of outpatient and/or intensive outpatient SUD treatment. Strong clinical documentation and chart review skills. Ability to train, supervise, and support SUDPTs. Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills. Ability to work in a growing program where systems are being developed and refined. Preferred Qualifications Preferred candidates will have experience with: Medicaid/Apple Health behavioral health documentation. Commercial insurance authorization and utilization review. Intensive outpatient program oversight. Multi-site clinical coordination. Shelter-based or community-based treatment services. Co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Behavioral Health Agency standards in Washington State. Training SUDPTs and newer clinicians. Chart audits, quality assurance, and compliance workflows. Startup or expanding program environments.
