Job Description
The Lutheran Home is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Business Office Intern for a paid internship within our healthcare community. This role is designed for a highly organized student interested in healthcare administration, accounting, or business management. The intern will gain hands-on experience in billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and front-line customer service, supporting smooth business office operations while maintaining strict confidentiality. Key Responsibilities Support daily business office operations Perform data entry and assist with administrative projects File, scan, and organize documents Answer and route phone calls professionally Assist with billing, accounts receivable/payable functions Learn and utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned Qualifications Junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required Ability to quickly learn new systems Strong organization, communication, and time management skills Professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality Preferred Skills Strong attention to detail Critical thinking and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities Collaborative and dependable work style Work Environment & Physical Requirements Office-based role within a healthcare community. Must be able to move throughout the healthcare community as needed throughout the workday, which may include walking between departments and buildings.
