Job Description
Children's Wisconsin offers a 52 week competency based fourth year placement for Doctor of Audiology students. Externs will have a primary supervisor but also have an opportunity to learn from many audiologists at the main campus and affiliated satellite clinics. Clinical experiences include pediatric diagnostics, amplification fitting and follow-up with infants and children of all ages, electrophysiology, auditory processing evaluations, cochlear implant evaluation and programming exposure, specialty clinics and newborn hearing screening, cVEMP and oVEMP completed as preliminary assessment of vestibular function. Seeking a highly motivated student with a strong desire for a career as a Pediatric Audiologist. At Children's Wisconsin, we believe kids deserve the best. Sharing what we learn and teaching others to care for kids July 21, 2026-September 7, 2026 : Application period open; please include cover letter, resume, and 2-3 letters of recommendation September 15, 2026 and September 17, 2026 : Interviews will be scheduled and completed September 18, 2026 : Externship site offer will be extended (CHW will send contracts with the institution of matriculation, must obtain a signed contract by January, 31 2027 in order for externship to take place) September 23, 2026 : Response deadline June 2027 : Proposed start date of 52 week externship (flexible). Student will be allowed 2 weeks (10 days) of personal time/sick time off in addition to holidays. Externship runs from approximately June 2027 through the end of May 2028. 10 days Continuing education opportunities? Yes Occasional training by hearing aid manufacturers at Children's Wisconsin main campus. The student will be given time to attend external continuing education; however, no financial support.Start Date:
June 2027 Expected hours/days a week: 40 Travel to satellite centers required? Yes Travel to Delafield, Greenfield, Kenosha, Mequon, and New Berlin satellite clinics. Approximately 20 miles from main campus hospital. Appleton clinic with NICU travel offered.Local students preferred:

No Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:- Diagnostic audiology experience with patients ages birth to 18 years.
- Experience with hearing testing of specials needs population.
- Experience with hearing aid consultation, fitting, and follow-up
- Experience or familiarity with assistive listening devices such as FM systems.
- Knowledge of objective electrophysiologic assessment (ABR, OAE testing)
- Experience with verification of hearing aids.
